In the fall of 2015, I heard about a Glass Cakeplate show and I could not resist. The entry invited not just cakeplate submissions, but any ideas related to cakes. It was sponsored by the Dinnerware Museum, located in my home town of Ann Arbor. I created some glass cakes and one was accepted! The show will open on April 9, 2016. at the Washtenaw Historical Museum on N. Main and Kingsley. Here are some of my cakes. All are 1/3 of a glass cake set against two mirrors at a 120 degree angle. Each appears as a cake with a piece missing. The glass "piece of cake" sits on a plate nearby.
Two glass cakes are on display now at WSG Gallery on Main St. in Ann Arbor, next door to the Ark. The opening is Friday, February 19, 7pm - 10pm
The Glass Cakes are $250 each, plus shipping, the Pieces of Cake are $70 each, plus shipping, Babycakes are $140 each, plus shipping. "Birthday Cake" is not for sale, but I could make another.
